In addition to the standard administration options available for medications, your facility has Officer Administered options. These will be used at facilities where nursing is not present over the weekends and/or overnight. Nursing should use these statuses for documentation of Officer Administered medications on the EMAR. At this time, Paper MARS will continue to be scanned into the patient record.
Options include:
- Officer Administered – See Paper MAR
- Officer Observed Self-Administered – See Paper MAR: Self-administered example is insulin.
- Officer Refused – See Paper MAR
Considerations:
- Officer Administered options are only available for up to 72 hours post administration time.
- If one of the Officer Administered options is chosen, you will be required to choose the day/time slot for the administration.
- If documentation is occurring within the timeframe of the order, you will be required to confirm the day/time for which the administration occurred.
