You can enter Quick or SOAP Progress Notes for a patient directly from the Patient Ribbon on the Main Patient Screen. Click the Progress Notes button to start your documentation.
The system displays all of the recent progress notes you enter for a patient in the Recent Progress Notes window at the bottom of the Main Patient Screen.
You can click the View All Progress Notes link at the bottom of that window to display the history of notes on a patient in the Progress Note Viewer. Using the viewer, you can search by category, which makes it easier for review if the patient has been seen by multiple specialty providers. If a progress note has been charted erroneously for a patient, an Administrator from your site can use the Remove option from the Action dropdown menu to delete a progress note from a patient’s chart. You can add an addendum to a progress note by clicking Update Record, but only if the progress note is less than 24 hours old. From the Addendum form, you can information in the text field, add additional items through the dropdown, then click Add Selected.
Adding a Progress Note
You can also add a SOAP Note or a Quick Note directly from the Progress Notes screen.
Just below the patient’s demographics, you will find filters.
- Search – Use the Search Bar field to enter any word contained within the Progress Note to help you narrow the list to display any notes containing the search word(s).
- User – Click this dropdown menu to search for a note added by a specific user.
- Note Type – Use this filter if you want narrow your list to view a specific type of note (Quick or SOAP).
- Role – Use this dropdown menu to narrow the list of progress notes entered by a specific role. For example, you may want to view only those notes entered by an administrator.
- Time Frame – to further narrow your search by a specific timeframe.
- Filter – Click the Filter button to display a list of progress notes based on the criteria you selected in the filters.
- Print Selected – Use the toggle switches next to the notes you want to print to select them, then click this button.
- Print All – Click this button to print all of the notes in your list. You do not have to use the toggle switches to select the notes to print in this case.
The Print Selected and Print All buttons are available at the top and bottom of the list of Progress Notes for easy access.
